Achvrz Summer Camp, children, learning, summer fun, toddlers

With the summer season starting full bloom there are lots of advertisements of numerous summer camps being organised for kids as young as 2 years old to as old as XIIth graders and although most of them promise lots of activities, are either high priced or doesn’t offer what they promise. But then here’s a summer camp with a difference, a camp that promises to create achievers in life by teaching students that there are no short cuts in life and that you will always be at one crossroad or the other and your success will be defined by the choices you make.

Showcasing a curtain raiser for ten summer camps that are due to start from May 20, 2013, Achvrz Achievers Energising Lives hosted 105th Stage Show of Poetry Musical Theatre at Alliance Francaise on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Started ten years ago in March 2003, Achvrz today is touching the lives of many students and parents who want to see their child excel in everything. And the event on Sunday was just a glimpse of what the team of Achvrz can and will do to your precious ones. So what are you waiting for just call up on the numbers given below and let your child have a head start.

Contact Person: Vijay Rao: 9899298992, 9899498994. You may also log in to their Facebook page for detailed and updated information on all the camps and their curriculum.Image

childproof your home, Deaths, toddlers

This was written when I was working with GDN in the  Kingdom of Bahrain. Everyday for almost a week we kept getting the news of toddlers’ death from all over the country. Sometimes a grand-mom completely forgot that she was giving bath to her grandchildren and by the time she remembered that she was giving a bath to them, they had drowned in the bath tub and their bodies were floating in the bath tub; sometimes a mother in a desperate need for a job went for an interview leaving her toddler son in the care of her wheelchair-bound son, unfortunately he saw his younger brother die in front of his eyes as he could not help him unstuck his head  who saw his younger brother die in front of him because his head got stuck in a pressure cooker.

As a writer and an expecting mother at that time I could not do more than writing this piece. Maybe we can save some lives with this piece. Watch out for my article on this topic on Ezine Articles.

Deaths as such are very depressing and painful for the family members and if it happens to be that of a toddler it’s very shattering especially for the parents. Distraught parents don’t know where they went wrong in taking care of their infant. Usually the toddlers’ deaths are due to negligence of the parents and they realise it too late, outsiders should understand that a mother at this point is at a vulnerable stage so instead of punishing her or levying her with fine the government should try and educate the young parents about the safety methods.

Usually the toddlers’ deaths are because the parents forget to make the house safe for children. As adults we should realise that what is safe for us may not be safe for toddlers and for children. Before you prepare to give birth – either throw away all the plastic bags or stash them away where children are not able to reach them¬ – they are the biggest enemy of your children. Believe it or not suffocation accounts for 90 per cent of deaths among children and toddlers. Another thing that should go out of your homes is – insecticides. Yes, insecticides there are another major cause of death – your crawling toddler is ever so curious and anything new he/she wants to taste it, smell and feel it.

When not in use keep your kitchen door either latched or locked which ever is convenient. Yes even your kitchen is not safe enough for your toddler or your children. Kitchen has objects like knives, cookers, tumblers which arouses a child’s curiosity and can pose a life endangering threat to your child.

This said there are certain cases where a mother is not able to take care of her child and has a help. Of course its good to have a trusted person to take care of your child, however, you have to realise that your mother, mother-in-law, or anyone who helps you should be physically and mentally fit as a young child requires a lot of active care and not just care.

Working mothers like me are always feeling guilty of leaving our child behind but then its time we involved the fathers in rearing the child and made him responsible for certain tasks too. As the times have changed mothers are also earning if not more equal salary and do deserve some help from their husbands in bringing up the children.

Finally parents have to remember that blaming each other will not bring your child back so instead of bickering at each other it would be nice if you support each other. Your wife will appreciate your understanding and support and so will your husband.

Happy parenting!

Thank you all in advance for taking time to read this blog. This is my endeavour to help parents educate about some dangers that lurk in the every corner of their homes.
