Man eating tigress strikes again... read the headline of the leading newspaper!

“Rohan don’t be late! You know I hate waiting,” said Priyanka.

“You go ahead, I will join you in 15 minutes, Rohan replied.

Priyanka was really excited to shoot this man-eating tigress, which has strayed into the human habitation near Jim Corbett National Park, with her new camera Rohan gifted her on her birthday.

25 minutes later…

Rohan arrived at the designated place and looked at his watch. “Oh hell I am late and now my sister will eat me alive. But where is she?” Rohan thought loudly.

He saw her Range Rover thus he knew that she was here… Did she venture into the Park area alone? He again thought loudly. So he started walking on to the muddy path that lead to the jungle and there on the way he found an orange shoe – Priyanka’s shoe!!! That’s when panic gripped him and he shouted Priyanka, Priyanka.Image

Man-eating tigress attacks a woman—23 year old wildlife photography enthusiast has been the latest victim…

The news flashed on his mobile and somewhere in the background he heard the faint lyrics of 25 minutes too late!

Turning the time back!

Blogathon, Turning the time back, Ultimate Blog Challenge

Have you ever felt that if only you could turn back the time and undo certain things then perhaps your life would have been a little better or you would have been a little happier? I wonder what the fascination with turning the time back is and undo lots of things that we had done in the past and are regretting doing them!

If I could turn back the time I would definitely unmeet lots of people so as to make my life peaceful and stress free and undo the mistakes my younger self committed! I would relive my childhood and choose my friends wisely, be less naive and worldly wise. I would trust more and doubt less and give people a benefit of doubt!

But then an inner voice asked me do I actually think that if I remove all these experiences from my life would I be different person? And another voice answered perhaps yes! More confident? Yes! Able to stand for myself? The voice answered with a big Yes! More at peace with myself? Yes again.

But then this would be possible only if I could turn back the time! Bliss is definitely ignorance and accepting yourself with all your faults and shortcomings said the other voice. Hmmm! I rest my case here! If only I could turn back the time….ImageImage

Of Newspapers and their Op-Ed Pages

Blogathon, Newspapers. edit pages, Ultimate Blog Challenge

I have always been fascinated with the editorial page of newspapers and believe that a good edit page is equivalent to great thinking minds who day after day make tremendous efforts to research, search and create a page that not only reflects the mindset of the team working in that newspaper but also of the people who read that newspaper.

A good newspaper will always be mindful of what goes into its op-ed page, as the editors across the globe believe that an edit page is the soul of the newspaper and reflects the paper’s core values of honest and courageous journalism. And if the soul is not well taken care of the body (other content on the paper) can fall flat on its face.

So here’s to interesting op-ed pages of the leading newspapers in our country! Happy Reading!  ImageImage

Farewell to 2013 the year that was …. sports

Twenty thirteen proved to be a mix of good and bad for the sports world whether in India or abroad. Much of the 2013 was spent in wondering whether the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar should retire gracefully or continue playing. With the final decision of retirement from the game Sachin Tendulkar with tear in his eyes bid farewell to his 24 years of glittering career in the world of cricket.

In 2013 the betting took another form with Indian Cricket League when some of the key players of IPL were caught on CCTV camera taking bribes and engaging in spot fixing during important matches. The 2013 Indian Premier League spot fixing and betting case arose when the Delhi Police arrested three cricketers, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, on the charges of spot-fixing. The three represented the Rajasthan Royals in the 2013 Indian Premier League. In a separate case, Mumbai Police arrested Vindu Dara Singh and Gurunath Meiyappan for alleged betting and having links with bookies.

For more details on this click here! And the images here

You may also read other detailed reports here!

It was indeed shameful incident for the entire cricketing community.

The year also some jolts and successes in the field of tennis. 2013 that began with a unique players’ revolt that shook Indian tennis in a controversy-marred beginning of the year. However when things settled down and the year progressed important players like Sania Mirza, Somdev Devvarman and Leander Paes brought cheers to the fans by their on-court successes.

So now with the hope that both cricket and tennis players will bring more laurels to the country here’s wishing everyone a happy New Year!

Recharging my hair to eradicate the frizz

Blogathon, recharging hair, Sunsilk, Ultimate Blog Challenge

Winter is the worst time for my hair, as they become dull, frizzy and difficult to maintain. Dryness I manage with hot oil massages, but frizz is a different matter altogether. No amount of oiling or conditioning helps in controlling the frizz especially in the winter season.

No frizz hair

Then I came across Sunsilk’s shampoo with Frizz control and I was like why not try it this winter, and so I got the shampoo and a conditioner with it. I was little sceptical about using it because after all I have seen it with my own eyes bigger promises going down the even bigger drain; so with little trepidation and cynicism galore I applied that shampoo on my shoulder-length of wavy hair. I massaged the way I was supposed to according to the instructions on the bottle and then rinsed them with hot water and then conditioned my hair with the condition.

Next was to pat them dry with towel and comb through the waves to detangle them and let them dry on their own. It was during this time the promise of Sunsilk’s Shampoo with Frizz Control formula would be tested. So I waited for my hair to dry, as I went on doing my normal household chores and SURPRISE, SURPRISE – no frizz in my hair and this after I had a pillow fight with five year old, did the entire kitchen work and other small things around the house without a single frizz in my hair. I was so delighted with the results that I even recommended it to my friends with curly hair who used to have the same problem!

And so Sunsilk came to my rescue and recharged my hair so now they bounce and a form a perfect wave. And if you have any queries about your hair then visit http://www.sunsilk.in/ to get all your queries cleared. So what are you waiting for log on and get your hair recharged super quick?

Farewell to 2013 the year that was …. entertainment

2013, 2014, actors, Blogathon, movies, Pran, Sophia Haque, TV, Ultimate Blog Challenge

Twenty thirteen proved that if the script is good, audience will appreciate the movie and will not worry about the star cast. So move over the superstars SRKs, Hrithiks, Salmans and Ranbirs, as 2013 was the year of common man and his stories, which ruled the roost at the box office! And some of the examples include movies like the lunch box, Pan Singh Tomar, Bhag Milkh Bhag and Club 60 – which portrayed a common man dealing with the difficulties of everyday life and coming out as winner.

The year also saw some of the sequels of hit movies like Race 2, Aashiqui 2 and Dhoom 3 turning out to be a bigger hit than their predecessors. Not forgetting the fact that Indian cinema was celebrating its 100 years in 2013, there were some special tributes by the movie makers to our own Bollywood like the movie Bombay Talkies that recreated the journey from the era of silent movie to the current era complete with song, music and dance.

As the Indian Film industry was celebrating its century year with some tributes to the legends of yesteryear with cheerful, happy and gay demeanour, it got jolted with the deaths of some of the popular, talented and lovable personalities of the Indian Cinema including Pran, Farooq Sheikh, Jiah Khan, and Sophia Haque. For the detailed list of celebrities who passed away in 2013 click here.

Moving on to the small screen entertainment, the medium also saw some notable changes, as the saas-bahu serials gave way to more contemporary shows like Na Bole tum…, Sanskar, Tumhari Pankhi, and numerous crime related shows. Channels like Life OK and Sony showed various crime related shows that not only tell the true story in a dramatised manner but also are trying to alert the audience to be careful.

Laughter they say is the best medicine and the small screen entertainment knows how to tickle the funny bone of its audience – with the entire channel dedicated to light-hearted entertainment to specific shows complete with laughter, the TV audience has a vast range to choose from! The current favourite being Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colours! (I know I know the channel uses American spellings  but I am too much in love with British spellings so COLOURS it will be!)

While it is a good medium not only to get entertained within the four walls of your home, but also catch with the current happenings around the world sometimes it tends to go overboard. Like the news of a reporter riding on a shoulder of a flood victim to report the scene. Detailed report here!

This year also saw the debut of Anil Kapoor on the small screen with his show 24. This year Salman Khan also announced that this will be his last season of hosting Bigg Boss. And with all this gossip, news and more laughter, our entertainment industry entered into new 2014 with a promise of some interesting movies and shows. And so with a hope that New Year proves to be as fruitful as the previous one, here’s wishing everyone a great year ahead.

Farewell to 2013 and getting ready to welcome 2014

2014, Blogathon, Farewell to 2013, general review, Ultimate Blog Challenge

As 2013 is getting ready to go down the lanes of history with a cosy wrap of memories engulfing it, the brand new 2014 is gearing up for a grand entry tomorrow. As is the rule of the universe one leaves to make space for the another, here’s a quick look at the year that was 2013 – that was ridden with so many conflicts, changes, and life-changing decisions.

While there were both good and bad news that dominated the media this year, 2013 was a year that numerous upheavals – whether it was Aam Aadmi Party forming a government in New Delhi, escalating prices of daily consumption commodities, judgement on Nirbhaya’s case, or the final outcome of highly sensationalised Aarushi murder case, or the numerous voices were raised in relation to women safety issues.

The year also saw a regressive decision from Supreme Court on gay/lesbian marriages being illegal, thus generating another round of opinions from experts. The year also saw some of the talented and veteran people breathing their last and bidding adieu to this mortal world for their heavenly abode, while some took retirement from their respective fields to make space for younger generation.

Some of the renowned personalities who left for their heavenly abode this year include Nelson Mandela, Margaret Thatcher, Cory Monteith, James Gandolfini, Peter O’Toole, Pauline Friedman Phillips aka “Dear Abby,” Lou Reed and Hugo Chavez. For a detailed list of notable deaths in 2013 click here. The year also saw the tragic death of Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker.

Coming to India, the 2013 spelt doom for many celebrities from Hindi Cinema! Actors like Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and comedian Rajpal Yadav were found guilty and were put behind the bars. Some of the popular personalities in Bollywood who bid adieu to us include Jiah Khan, Pran, Jagdish Raj (an actor who played a cop in 144 films), Farooq Sheikh, director Yash Chopra, legendary singer Shamshad Begum, Director Rituparno Ghosh, renowned photographer Jagdish Mali, and legendary playback singer Manna Dey. Talking about singers; Reshma – that charismatic singer who sang the ever-popular number Lambi Judai in the film Hero, also passed away this year.

This year was also not good for religion of Indian Sports – Cricket, as three key players of IPL were arrested for spot fixing and betting. And then the God of the Indian cricket took retirement from the game. (Detail post to follow soon).

2013 was indeed a year of common man in India, as he chose Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over experienced Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party. And with all that noise the country welcomed 2014 with open arms hoping that new year will bring with it lots of positive changes in their lives as well.

And on that note here’s wishing everyone a great year ahead!
